Posted by Prim3 on January 10th, 2008

财运方面;

爱情方面;

健康方面;

2008戊子年天同锦囊;

Love is like waiting for a bus

Posted by Prim3 on January 6th, 2008

When the bus come, you look at it and you said to yourself, “eeee… so full…cannot sit down one”. So you said to yourself, “I’ll wait for the next one.” so you let the bus go and waited for the second bus.

Then the second bus came, you looked at it and you said, “eeee…this bus so old…surely very uncomfortable one.” So you let the bus go and decided to wait for the next bus.

After a while, another bus came. It’s not crowded and not old but you said, “eeee… no air-con one…and the weather is so warm, better wait for the next one.” So again you let the bus go and decided to wait for the next bus.

Then the sky started to get dark as it is getting late.

You panicked and jump on to the next on coming bus. It is not until much later that you found out that you had boarded on to the wrong bus! So you wasted your time and money waiting for what you want!

Even if an aircond bus came, can you ensure that the aircond bus won’t break down or will the aircond be too cold for you?

So people…(mostly girls but guys too!) want to make sure that what you want is not wrong. But it wouldn’t hurt to give other people a chance, right? If you found that the “bus” doesn’t suit, you just press the red button and get off the bus!

But wait…I am sure all of you have this experienced before. You saw a bus is coming (the bus you want of course) you flagged it and the driver acted blur by pretending not seeing you and zoomed pass you!

The bottom line of being loved is like waiting for a bus and whether you want to get on the bus and give the bus a chance depends totally on you and walking alone is just like being out of love.

If you love someone set him/her free. If he/she comes back to you, you know they’re yours. If they don’t then it was never meant to be.

Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell. Don’t be afraid to express yourself.

Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time, it might be too late.

Seize the day.

Never have regrets. You may not get a second chance

Intelligence and Effort

Posted by Prim3 on January 5th, 2008

There are many times I see people saying that they are not good in doing something, they don’t have interest in doing something, what to do, what can I do.. Now I just want to share a famous proverb by the great Thomas Edison (google if you don’t know who he was) during his time:

“Success is 1% intelligence and 99% effort”

Ya that’s right. You don’t have to be a genius to succeed. As a matter of fact, geniuses are far and few in this world and yet they are many successful people. The keyword here: Effort! IQ, which stands for Intelligence Quotient, is a measure of how intelligent a person can be. Based on researches done previously, it is based on the normal distribution which is something like the graph below:

From what you can see above, the blue highlighted area represents people with an IQ of 85 to 115 and accounts for 68% of the human population. Whereas people with an IQ of 70-130 accounts for 96% of the human population. People with IQ less than 70 and more than 130 are 2% each.

An IQ of 90-109 is the IQ of a normal person and most of us falls in this category. (including you and me who are reading this. Those with scores below 70 are retarded people while those with over 130 scores can be considered geniuses. But do not worry, those genius/retards have only 4% in the world’s population. So most of us are normal.

So if most people are normal, why does people succeed? Is Bill Gates a genius? Is Tony Fernandes (CEO of AirAsia) a genius? I don’t think so. Then why they can achieve success? That’s because they take everything they do seriously. Do you ever hear Bill Gates say: “Oh, I am not good in this. Help?” Have you ever hear Li Ka Shing say: “What to do? My life is like that?” No, instead, they know their targets and once they have one, they will work towards their target and achieve it.

Right now many of the university students I know tend to say things like: I don’t like this subject. I can’t do well in this course. All I can say is, if they put “getting As for that subject” as their target, and strive to work hard to achieve it, there’s nothing that can stop them. If they have already gave up on themselves by saying those negative things, then not even God can save them.

Interest is only a mentality of a person. Sometimes it can direct someone towards a wrong path. Somebody may avoid doing a work when they “think” they do not have interest in it. Little will they realize that in the contrary, they can actually do well in something if they have really put in the effort. They never did. All they know is that they don’t have interest and thus they don’t want to do it. Interest is never in the equation of success! Who cares you really are interested or not? The more important thing is you want to do well or not? If yes then forget about the interest thing and live on. Don’t be a sore loser who did badly in something and then blames interest. You just did not do enough! Interest is only something for you to put preference in a group of things (I like this more than that but I can be good in both) and not as excuses!

I want to share a personal experience that happened to me during my university years. I was a student in software engineering. I had to take a subject called Basic Economics, Accounting and Management. Being an IT student, I have zero (I repeat: zero) interest in economics/management/accounting. But I managed to get A for the subject. Am I a genius? No, sorry. If I happen to take any IQ test, I am sure mine will be in the normal people group. Then how come I can score? That’s because I wanted to get the A. Even without interest in the subject, I was constantly finding ways to make me understand all the theories and facts in the notes and textbooks. I did not rely on memorize at all. (How much can you remember anyway? Management books are way too thick) All I did was understand every single thing I read and yet I did not like what I read at all (means I managed to study well even though I do not have interest in it)! And I want to stress again (I HAVE ZERO INTEREST IN MANAGEMENT/ECONOMICS/ACCOUNTING!)

So before you want to say something like: I am not good in this or that/I have not talent in this/I am only good in that so I don’t want to do this, pls ask yourself:

  1. How much effort did you put in?
  2. Did you think of the reason why you are not good in a particular thing rather than blaming your intelligence/talent/interest?
  3. Did you find ways to improve your proficiency in the work troubling you?
  4. Did you just give in and say “What to do?” and not think of a better solution?

If you happen to answer “no” to any of the above, it just happen that you have the mentality that you cannot do it and never do your best.

So whenever, that happens, please remember.. Everybody can succeed if they believe in themselves and put in more efforts and not just blaming themselves/their IQs/anybody..

(Comments/Discussions welcome! :) )

Tag: Flying Magic Carpet Ride

Posted by Prim3 on September 9th, 2007

One day, after a long and tiring day at the office, Prim3 decided to take some time off at the beach side. In his trusty Myvi, he rode along the road to Damai beach, enjoying the sceneries along the way. There were a lot of incidents that happened to him lately. Personal things, office things, relationship things.. All these had worn out Prim3, both mentally and physically. A trip to the beach could help to clear his mind up, he really needed that. Upon reaching the beach, Prim3 stopped the car at the parking lot and rested himself on the seat. He closed his eyes while thinking back about the past week. What had he done, what had he achieved. Certain things definitely didn’t go as what he had planned. Bad things were more than the good things. As he tried to relax himself, slowly, bit by bit, he began to wander towards blankness…! Poof! He heard a noise. Prim3 woke up. It was already dark. Prim3 decided to go back. After starting up the car, he heard another noise. POOF!! It came from outside the car. Curious, Prim3 stepped out and had a look around. He saw a weird looking thing. It was shaped like a lamp in the movie Aladdin. Prim3 took it up and rubbed it, hopping a Genie would come up. Moments after that, smoke came out of the lamp. A genie really came out! But it was no genie like in the cartoon. This genie is a lady genie! She was sitting on a magic carpet that floated in the sky. Prim3 was a bit shocked when he saw the genie. But she looked friendly enough. Before long, the genie spoke: “Greetings, I am the Princess Genie. Thank you for freeing me from the lamp. I shall grant you a wish”. A wish? Not three? Prim3 thought. Anyway, one is better than none. So without thinking long, Prim3 decided on a wish he had always wanted. Money! He told the genie he would want never ending riches! After saying out the wish, Prim3 took a moment to think about what he was going to do with the riches! Buy houses, buy new cars. Or rather he can use his unlimited money to take over the world! MUAHAHAHA! After coming back to his senses, he waited for the genie to grant his wish. “Very well.” said the genie. Soon after that, she disappeared. Prim3 waited. Nothing happened. What in the world? Was that just a trick? Maybe he was just too tired and that’s just an illusion. Not long after that. Something happened. Gold bars started falling down from the sky. Gold bars! Prim3 knew that his wish was coming true. He would be rich!! The gold rain filled the land with gold. Until it covered Prim3 until the waist. But it did not stop. Prim3 was no longer able to move since he was covered in gold. He was too busy enjoying holding the golds and not realise the gold rain was slowly covering him until the head. Soon, the gold covered him and he had his wish. But he no longer had the chance to actually use it..

Moral of the story: Remember to ask the genie to give you the unlimited riches in installments.. :P

(Prim3: Such long and silly story.. haha.. )
